National Spotlight: Buford (GA) 21' QB Aaron McLaughlin (6-5, 218)

By Jerry Williamson

The state of Georgia has a long-and-rich history, when it comes to producing elite football players over the decades, and the Class of 2021, has a quarterback located just north of the Metro Atlantic area, named Aaron McLaughlin who many tend to forget he's only 15-years-old, standing 6-foot-5, 218-pounds. After starting the past two seasons for North Gwinnett eighth-grade football team, McLaughlin has transferred to Burford Middle School and will play for nationally recognized Burford High School this upcoming fall, a football program that holds eight state titles dating back to 2002.

Having yet to play a single down of high football, the middle school student-athlete holds a staggering list of division one verbal offers from the likes of Ga State, Missouri, Indiana, FAU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. McLaughlin's parents both shined at the collegiate ranks and professionally. McLaughlin's father played both baseball and football for Furman University, and his mother played basketball at Bethany College and was a member of the USA Triathlon National Resident Team at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado.

Accomplishments

McLaughlin has accomplish so much within the past three seasons. He has been seen as the face of Georgia, starting for the top traveling team named the Jaguars as well as representing the  state, as a Georgia All-Star selection. The eighth-grader, is so driven to make it, his father personally takes him to Los Angeles to with 1-on-1 training with quarterback guru Steve Clarkson.

The training is certainly paying off, recently making the Jordan Breakfast Club top performers at South Beach, FL, amongst high school prospects. McLaughlin plans to major in business come college and informed me, he's open and doesn't have a favorite college football team.My strength at quarterback is my athleticism, desicion-making and ability to make any throw on the field", said McLaughlin.

Jerry's Take

I expect for Burford High School football program to add to their trophy case, behind the arm, decision-making and leadership of Aaron McLaughlin. He's fundamentally sounded and has proven, he can make every throw and standing 6-foot-5 helps to scan the field and make adjustments.
